Beatport to Block Fully AI-Generated Tracks at Upload

Beatport is rolling out detection technology from Beatdapp to block fully AI-generated tracks from being ingested onto its platform, while human-led hybrid songs remain welcome.

Beatport is taking a firm stance against fully AI-generated music, announcing plans to block such tracks at the point of ingestion rather than after they've gone live on the platform. The move relies on new detection tools supplied by Beatdapp, which will screen incoming uploads before they ever reach the digital shelves.

Importantly, Beatport isn't drawing a blanket line against AI in music production altogether. Hybrid tracks that involve human-led creative input alongside AI tools will still be permitted, suggesting the platform is trying to distinguish between AI as a creative aid and AI as a full replacement for artist involvement.

The decision reflects a broader reckoning happening across the music industry as AI-generated content becomes easier to produce and harder to distinguish from human-made work. By partnering with Beatdapp on detection technology, Beatport appears to be positioning itself as a marketplace committed to protecting space for human artistry, even as it leaves room for AI-assisted production methods.
